Resources in Biblical Theology from Meredith Kline

Justin RuddyAugust 09, 2011

As you may have discerned from the blogs and articles on the CGC site, we are committed to understanding the Gospel, and ultimately our lives, in the context of the redemptive-historical narrative of Scripture. A key discipline for getting our heads around the full arc of the Bible's story is what has come to be called Biblical Theology. This post is not meant as an introduction to Biblical Theology, for that you can take a look at D.A. Carson's The God Who Is There or Michael Lawrence's Biblical Theology in the Life of the Church

Here, we want to point you to www.meredithkline.com, a great site where you can access the works, both print and audio, of the late Dr. Meredith G. Kline. A Professor of Old Testament for over 50 years at Westminster Theological Seminary, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Westminster Seminary California, Dr. Kline's work is some of the most profound, influential, yet overlooked work in the field. He had and, through his legacy, continues to have a significant influence on the Biblical Theology that undergirds much of what is done here at CGC.

Of particular interest to our readers will be the audio section of the website where Dr. Kline's lectures on the Pentateuch, the Prophets, and his Kingdom Prologue material are available for download. Another significant aspect of the site is the articles section where you can find PDF and online versions of the majority of Dr. Kline's academic articles.

Though Kline is not for the faint of heart, significant time spent with his books and/or lectures will deepen your understanding of the biblical narrative, and ultimately your faith in Christ who stands as the climax of that narrative. Enjoy!
